Monte Vista Water District employees are provided a cafeteria-style benefit plan. This allows employees to select a benefit package that fits their individual needs.
The District offers medical benefits through the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) with choices from Kaiser Permanente (HMO), Blue Shield (HMO), Health Net (HMO), United Healthcare (HMO) and Anthem Blue Cross (HMO) and Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans. Enrollment in the District's medical plans is optional; however, the District requires evidence of coverage from another plan. Eligible employees that waive the District's medical plan can receive a portion of their cafeteria allotment as a direct payment.
Annuitant Medical Benefit
As a retiree of the District you will be eligible for a contribution, depending on your hire date and years of service, to your retiree medical benefit when participating in the Public Employees' Medical & Hospital Care Act (PEMHCA).
Dental & Vision
The District offers dental coverage through Cypress Hybrid, a versatile dental plan to meet our employees changing needs. The plan allows employees to switch between a Dental Health Maintenance Organization (DHMO) managed care plan or a Dental Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan to better serve their dental needs throughout the year.
Monte Vista Water District employees are offered vision coverage through Medical Eye Services.
Monte Vista Water District contracts with CalPERS for retirement benefits. The District's retirement formula is 2.5% at 55 for employees hired prior to January 1, 2013. This group of District employees currently contributes 8% toward their retirement plan. All new employees, as defined by the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA), hired on or after January 1, 2013, will participate in the District's retirement formula of 2% at 62, with the employee paying 50% of the normal cost of the plan, which currently is 6.75%.
